Adult supervision
Always have a responsible adult supervise when lighting crackers. Never let young children handle fireworks on their own.
Open space only
Burst crackers in a wide, open area away from buildings, vehicles, dry grass, and trees. Avoid balconies and narrow lanes.
Keep water nearby
Always keep a bucket of water or sand nearby. Dip used sparklers and spent crackers in water before disposing.
Light at arm's length
Use a long incense stick (agarbatti) or sparkler to light crackers. Move away quickly after lighting the fuse.
Never re-light duds
If a cracker does not go off, wait for at least 10 minutes. Never attempt to re-light or inspect it. Soak it in water and discard safely.
Store properly
Keep crackers in a cool, dry place away from heat, flame, or direct sunlight. Do not carry them in your pockets.
Protect ears & eyes
Use ear plugs or cotton for young children and sensitive individuals. Wear cotton clothes, not synthetics, to avoid fire hazards.
Clean up after
Collect all debris after the celebration. Soak spent crackers in water before putting them in the dustbin. Keep your surroundings clean.
First aid ready
Keep a basic first-aid kit handy. In case of burns, run cool water over the area for 10 minutes and seek medical help if needed.
Respect timing rules
Follow local regulations on permissible hours for bursting crackers. Be considerate of elderly neighbours, babies, and pets.
